Save The Himalayas

Save The Himalayas is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization with the prime objective of preserving and promoting the Himalayas of Nepal. More than 1 million people trek in the Himalayas every year. This has caused a severe problem of soil, air, and water pollution. Many trekkers throw plastic bags and cans wherever on the trail, which is harder to clean without a collective effort. There are tonnes of empty oxygen and gas cylinders rusting in the basecamps, water streams, and lakes. This needs immediate removal in order to protect the ecosystem of the region. The diverse flora and fauna of the Himalayas have been most affected by the growth of tourism. Save The Himalayas project will mobilize mountain guides in those high-altitude areas and conduct cleaning campaigns.

Furthermore, the illegal smuggling of rare herbs, animals, and minerals has also risked the national parks of Nepal. The recent road constructions that link to the China border have increased the risk of animal poaching and herbs smuggling. Save The Himalayas project will make efforts to stop such illegal activities by educating the local community about the value of their ecosystem.

Save The Himalayas is a progressive social organization that aims to develop modern libraries with computers in the remote schools of Nepal. The team believes that modernizing schools with technology will quickly create social awareness and development in the communities. The organization will also provide scholarships to bright students for higher international education. The organization has been conducting various social activities and cleaning campaigns around the Kathmandu valley throughout the year.
