Beginning his journey in the tourism industry as a humble Porter Guide to founding hospitality establishments and an adventure travel company, he has come a long way. In a career spanning more than two decades he has achieved more than anybody dreams of achieving. Along with his professional achievements, his selfless contribution towards his community and society has won him a lot of accolades and praises. Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek

HILIGHTS

Kanchenjunga Circuit trek will lead you into the pristine Kanchenjunga Conservation Area of Nepal. This park is named after its massive snow treasure Mount Kanchenjunga with an elevation of 8,586m. Mount Kanchenjunga is 3rd highest mountain in world after Mount Everest and Mount K2. Kanchenjunga trek gives you a very rare taste of an unexploited wilderness, experienced by very less tourists. Mount Kanchenjunga is considered to be on of the most beautiful snow massif in the world.Kanchenjunga Circuit  trek is an ideal trekking trail for the trekkers who enjoy solitude. This is a 21 days trek starting from Kathmandu, capital city of Nepal. We can do this trek by camping throughout the trail or by staying in a tea house. We will fly to Suketar airport located in far north-east part of Nepal from where our trek starts. 

We will trek through the beautiful villages, forests and landscapes observing different ethnic groups far from modern world still practicing their traditional culture. On our trek we can see the traces of Kirat civilization throughout the inhabited areas. On this trek we can see central, south and north face of Kanchenjunga. Also we can see mount Yalungkang, Jannu, Makalu, Lhotse and Everest on the way to Selela Pass. We might also see snow leopard, red panda, musk deer and several species of birds and butterflies preserved in the country’s most pristine Oak and Rhododendron forest. After trekking through the forested area of Kanchenjunga the trail passes through high altitude with less vegetation and more rocky terrain. We will cross Mirgin La Pass of 4725 meters and enjoy the panoramic views of mount Makalu, Chamlang and Everest. After then we trek through the massive glacier of Kanchenjunga from where we will get to see the most incredible close up view of mount Kanchenjunga. Finally we will reach to the base camp of mount Kanchenjunga at Pang Pema. After then we will start trekking back to Suketar collecting many unforgettable moments of the

ITINERARY

Kanchenjunga circuit Trek
DAY 1
KATHMANDU – SUKETAR (2420M) – LALIKHARKA 4 HOURS
From Kathmandu, we will board an early morning flight to Suketar which is located in the far northeast region of Nepal. We will trek up and down through the trail that mostly passes through lush green forests all the way to Lalikharka.
DAY 2
LALIKHARKA – KHESEWA (2120M) 7 HOURS
After breakfast we will trek to Khesewa. The trekking trail is an easy descent to Phundrawa. From there our trail goes steep up via Yangpang, Phumphe Danda to Khesewa. On the trail we will see different ethnic communities unaffected by modern wold still holding their traditional culture. We will stay overnight in Khesewa.
DAY 3
KHESEWA – MAMANKHE (1785M) 6 HOURS
Early in the morning we will start our trek towards river Kabeli. On the trail through forests we will cross several small streams enjoying the views of himalayas. We will stay overnight in a homestay at Mamankhe.
DAY 4
MAMANKHE – YAMPHUDIN (2080M) 6 HOURS
Today we trek alongside the river Kabeli. On the way we will see beautiful ridge behind the stream. As we continue our trek we pass by a beautiful waterfall. After walking for some hours, we will cross a small suspension bridge, get to Yamphudin and stay overnight.
DAY 5
YAMPHUDIN – TORTONG (2,995M) 6 HOURS
We begin our trek on a trail commonly used by the villagers which pass through terraced farms and green meadows. Along the way, we will have constant scenic view of the Himalayas. We will trek alongside the river Amji. After then we will cross a pass at Lassiya Bhanjyang before reaching Tortong and stay overnight in a tea house.
DAY 6
TORTONG – CHERAM (3,870M) 7 HOURS
Today we will climb to Cheram, the trail is right on the side of the river Simbuwa. We pass through the beautiful Lalung valley while observing Tuplung peak for most of the part of today’s journey. As we continue we will pass through thick rhododendron forest and enjoy the magnificence of the Yalung Glacier and stay overnight at Cheram in a tea house.
DAY 7
CHERAM: REST AND ACCLIMATIZATION
Today we spend a day in Cheram which will help us to acclimatize in this high altitude. We can spend the rest of the day on rest or going on small hikes. We can explore the areas around the Yalung Glacier, viewpoint for Kabaru and Rathong peaks and stay overnight in Cheram.
DAY 8
CHERAM – RAMCHE (4,580M) 5 HOURS
Today we trek from Cheram to Ramche. From Cheram, we ascend for sometime before reaching the snout of the Yalung Glacier. It is a beautiful walk on a valley trail. We also cherish the views of several Himalayan peaks. We pass through a small settlement of Lapsang before reaching Ramche for overnight.
DAY 9
RAMCHE – YALUNG BASE CAMP (4500M) TO CHERAM
From Ramche, we walk further up in the valley. We then follow a stream before climbing on the moraine top until confronted by Kanchenjunga’s southern face. Then we trek further ahead for a glimpse of the mount Jannu. We will continue our trek further towards Oktang Monastery. From there, we will climb further up and reach the Yalung Base Camp. The views of Kanchenjunga from the base camp is extraordinary. Kumbakarna (Jannu), Nyukla Lachung and other Himalayan peaks are so close by. Then we descend and spend overnight at Cheram.
DAY 10
CHERAM – SELE LA (4290M) 6 HOURS
Today we will cross four passes beginning with Sine Lapche Bhanjyang. After crossing the pass we will continue to Mirgin La pass. After then we continue trekking and reach the Sinion La pass which is not very far. From there, we ascend to Sele La pass. There are prayer flags strung across one of the steeper sections of the trail which is very near to the Sele La pass. We cross the pass and stay overnight in Sele La.
DAY 11
SELE LA – GHUNSA (3,595M) 4 HOURS
We will start our trek towards the north with Tangbgharma Danda nearby. Then we will reach a chorten marked by prayer flags which marks the start of a steep trail. We descend through rhododendron, birch and pine forests before reaching Ghunsa. It is a beautiful village of houses with dark and weathered pine walls and Buddhist prayer flags. We will stay Overnight in Ghunsa.
DAY 12
GHUNSA – KAMBACHEN (4,050M) 6 HOURS
From Ghunsa, we will trek further north along the river bank which presents us with magnificent mountain scenery. We will pass through meadows filled with beautiful wildflowers, then cross rhododendron and pine forests. Then we will cross a bridge at Rampuk Kharka and continue past a waterfall and cross the tricky section of a landslide. After crossing the landslide area we begin to see the spectacular view of Mt. Jannu. Further exploring and tackling the tricky mountain trail we finally arrive at Kambachen and spend the night.
DAY 13
KAMBACHEN – LHONAK (4,780M) 6 HOURS
Today will be another challenging day and an early start is needed. We will trek through rocky fields and large boulders on the hillside along the riverbank and arrive at a waterfall. We will then cross a bridge to Ramtang monastery. After then we will cross a landslide section which we must pass through at a steady pace before descending to the river and finally arriving at Lhonak. We will stay overnight in Lhonak.
DAY 14
From Lhonak, we trek towards the Kanchenjunga Base Camp. Our trail is alongside the gigantic Kanchenjunga Glacier. After passing Pangpema we will descend towards the Kanchenjunga Base Camp. The view from the base camp is magnificient. Mount Kanchenjunga, Jannu Himal and other Himalayan peaks are ours to admire. After then we will descend back to Pangpema and stay overnight.
DAY 15
PANGPEMA – LHONAK 5 HOURS
From Pangpema we trace back our steps to Lhonak and stay overnight.
DAY 16
LHONAK – GHUNSA (3475M) 7 HOURS
From Lhonak, we will descend all the way to Ghunsa via Kambache. It is the same route we took when we were climbing up.
DAY 17
GHUNSA – AMJILOSA (2,308M) 6 HOURS
From Ghunsa, we descend towards Phale. We will pass through several Mani’s and a monastery nearby. We will walk through Juniper forests and reach Phale. From there, it is a steady descent to Gyabla. We will cross a bridge over river Chhundatangka and reach Gyabla. As we continue our trek, we see a waterfall nearby. We also cross a suspension bridge over river Sumbung before reaching Amjilosa. Today we stay overnight in Amjilosa.
DAY 18
AMJILOSA – CHIRWA (1,270M) 7 HOURS
After walking for a while we will see a beautiful waterfall nearby. We will continue our trek and pass a small settlement of Solima before crossing a suspension bridge over river Ghunsa and reach Sukathum. Our trail passes through several villages beside river Thunsa followed by river Tamor before reaching Chirwa. We will stay overnight in Chirwa.
DAY 19
CHIRWA – PHURUMBU (1,549M) 6 HOURS
Today we will notice that the settlement starts to get thicker as we are descending. Our trail is alongside lush vegetation. We pass through several villages before reaching Sinwa. From there we continue to descend acrossing a bridge over the Sisne Khola. Now we are in the Pathibhara Trek trail. We will pass through another village and cross another suspension bridge over Yaphre Khola to reach Phurumbu for overnight stay.
DAY 20
PHURUMBU – SUKETAR 7 HOURS
Our Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek ends today. We can take a much needed break after reaching Suketar.
DAY 21
SUKETAR – KATHMANDU
After completing our wonderful journey of Kanchenjunga Conservation Area. Today we will spend our whole day resting, packing, sightseeing or souvenir shopping for loved ones in Kathmandu. There will be a farewell dinner hosted by our company in the evening to celebrate the successful completion of our trek.

Hiring an experienced guide and porter is highly recommended for safety and comfort. Located in the far north-eastern corner of Nepal, Mt. Kanchenjunga is considered to be one of the most beautiful mountain massifs, scaling 8,586m. Kanchenjunga Park itself is a wilderness virtually untouched by time and tourism, perfect for the adventurous trekker looking for something unique. 
The trek heads through diverse land topography, forests, and villages. You’ll see central, south, and north Kanchenjunga, as well as Yalungkang, Mt. Jannu, Makalu, Lhotse, and Mt. Nar Phu Valley Trek is an exotic journey along the north face of Annapurna, to explore the fascinating valley of Nar Phu. The trek starts from Jagat lies along the Annapurna Circuit trail, and then leaves the main circuit trail from Koto to follow the less traveled trails to Nar Phu valley. The trekkers get to explore the remote mountain valley trails in the north of Manang and pass the Kang La pass (5315) with breathtaking panoramic views of Annapurna massif. Kang La pass connects Nar to Manang and Bhotia villages in the Neyshang valley.
The exotic views of high snow peaks, ancient villages with medieval Tibetan culture, famous Tashi Lakhang Monastery, and exploring high alpine valleys are the major highlights of the Nar Phu Valley Trek. The trek to this secluded mountain valley offers an interesting understanding of medieval Tibetan culture in the region. Any trekker exploring this part of the world cherishes the natural, cultural, and historical heritages for a long time. The trek heads to the west of Nar Phu Valley Trek to reach the highest elevation in Annapurna Circuit trail, Thorong La Pass at 5416 m. Then the trekkers descend to the lower Mustang following the trails leading to holy Muktinath before heading to Jomsom. The trek finally concludes at Jomsom following flights to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu.

ITINERARY

Nar Phu Valley Trek
DAY 1
ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU (1,300M/4,428FT)
Upon our arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, we will be greeted by a representative from Mount Adventure Holidays who will take us to our hotel. After checking in, we may take a rest or visit Mount Adventure Holidays office. In the evening there will be a welcome dinner in a traditional Nepali Restaurant where we will be able to enjoy authentic Nepali cuisine. Overnight in Kathmandu.

DAY 2
KATHMANDU: SIGHTSEEING AND TREK PREPARATION
Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu which are also listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. We visit the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the largest stupas in the world. At noon, we get our equipment checked by our climbing leader, get introduced to fellow participants, and discuss our Nar Phu Valley Trek at Mount Adventure Holidays office. Overnight in Kathmandu.

DAY 3
KATHMANDU TO JAGAT DRIVE (1100M/3608FT): 8-9 HOURS
We begin our journey at early dawn as we have a long drive ahead of us. We head-start right after breakfast and leave Kathmandu around 7 am in the morning. We see picturesque views of Nepali countryside, lush greeneries, rivers, villages, farms and mountain vistas en route throughout the drive. After 8-10 hours of drive we reach Jagat via Besishahar. Drive up to Besishahar will most likely be smooth owing to black-topped roads whereas after Besishahar, the roads get dusty and coarse but the scenic view from our windowpane is more than compensating for the bumpy ride. Overnight in Jagat.

DAY 4
JAGAT TO DHARAPANI (1,960M/6,430FT): 7-8 HOURS
Upon breakfast, we slowly begin our trek today. The trail from Jagat descends until it reaches the river and then continues through a lush forest. Further ascent leads to sharp-edged cliff facing the riverbank. En route, Chyamje comes into picture amidst the glorious backdrop of towering Annapurna mountain ranges. After crossing a suspension bridge, we climb steeply towards the slippery and physically challenging path to Sattale. On treading along a succession of rock-strewn trails, we descend to a grassy riverbank that leads to Tal. As we walk away from Tal, the path becomes rugged and winding. Then we approach steep forested village of Karte. Meandering along the waterfalls and cliffs, we finally reach Dharapani after crossing a suspension bridge. Overnight in Dharapani.

DAY 5
DHARAPANI TO KOTO (2,610M/8,563FT): 5-6 HOURS
We begin our trek in the morning towards Bagarchhap which takes about one hour passing through pine and fir forests. We can visit the white washed monastery in this village. Then we continue our trek till Danaque which takes about an hour. The trail is steeply ascending up to Timang. We have a good view of Mt. Manaslu and Peak 29 from here. Now the trail continues through pine forests again till Latamarang which takes about one and half hour. We break for lunch here and again resume through forests whereby we have a short glimpse of Annapurna II. Finally we arrive in Koto village. Overnight in Koto.

DAY 6
KOTO TO META (3,560M/11,680FT): 7-8 HOURS
We begin our trek in the morning towards Bagarchhap which takes about one hour passing through pine and fir forests. We can visit the white washed monastery in this village. DAY 7
We start our day traversing up and down and crossing suspension bridges over different streams. After almost 4 hours of trek we reach Kyang where we can see the remnants, particularly the ruined forts of the Khampa settlement (the place which Khampa refugees from Tibet once captured and lived). We further keep walking past the Phu Khola on a rocky trail and finally reach the Phu village in another 3 to 4 hours. Overnight in Phu Gaon.

DAY 8
ACCLIMATIZATION AT PHU GAON
Today is the scheduled acclimatization day whereby we are suggested to rest and get acclimatized with the altitude. As we are in the Lost/Hidden Valley, we can explore the culture, natural diversity, and religious practices of the ethnic groups like Lama, Gurung and Ghale in here. Besides this, we can trace out how people make their survival depending on agriculture, animal breeding and seasonal migrations in such remote location or in the hidden valley. It is also the day for us to explore the Tashi Lakhang Monastery – the old Buddhist Monastery listed out of the 108 world’s great Buddhist Monasteries; it is supposed to be the last monastery constructed by Karmapa Rinpoche. Apart from exploring the cultural avenues of the lost valley, the valley also offers us a great view of Himlung Himal and other snow peaks in the region. Overnight at Phu Gaon.

DAY 9
PHU GAON TO NAR (4,110M/13,484FT): 6-7 HOURS
Today is the scheduled acclimatization day whereby we are suggested to rest and get acclimatized with the altitude. DAY 10
ACCLIMATIZATION AND PREPARATION AT NAR
This is the second scheduled acclimatization/rest day for this trek. We spend the day taking a day hike nearby and explore Nar village and have a close look over the local culture and lifestyle. We also prepare for the trek next day. Overnight in Nar.

DAY 11
NAR TO KANG LA PASS (5,322M/17,460FT) TO NGWAL (3,660M/12,008FT): 7-8 HOURS
Today is one of the best day of Nar Phu Valley Trek with long day hike so we get up early in the morning and head to Kangla pass. From pass we can see the Annapurna massif. We further trek down to Ngwal from there. Overnight in Ngwal.

DAY 12
NGWAL TO MANANG (3,540M/11,614FT): 4-5 HOURS
From Ngwal, we head for Manang today. We pass through the isolated village of Paugh overlooking the amazing views of Annapurna range. We then move gently uphill to Mungli and then to the main trail of Annapurna Trail at Mungli. We eventually reach Manang, where we set up our camps for overnight stay. Overnight in Manang.

DAY 13
MANANG TO YAK KHARKA (4,110M/13,484FT): 3-4 HOURS
From Manang village, the trail crosses a stream, climbs to a village of Tenki above Manang, and then continues to climb out of the Marshyangdi Valley turning northwest up the valley of Jarsang Khola. The trail follows this valley northward, passing a few pastures, a scrub of juniper trees, as it steadily gains elevation. The trail further passes near the small village of Ghunsa, a cluster of flat mud roofs just below the trailhead. Now the trail goes through meadows where horses and yaks graze. After crossing a small river on a wooden bridge, the trail passes an ancient old Mani wall in a pleasant meadow and then reaches another small village of Yak Kharka. Overnight at Yak Kharka.

DAY 14
YAK KHARKA TO THORONG PHEDI (4,600M/15,092FT): 3-4 HOURS
We make our way to the foot of the pass, Throng Phedi today. Thorong Phedi is a small busy settlement catering to the needs of tired trekkers and climbers. Trekkers like us use this point as a base camp. Some visitors also attempt a hike to the High Camp today so that the next day can be easier for them. But, Mount Adventure Holidays team leader does not advise this. DAY 15
THORONG PHEDI TO THORONG LA (5,416M/17764FT) TO MUKTINATH (3,800M/12,467FT): 7-8 HOURS
This is one of the tough day of Nar Phu Valley Trek. Crossing the arduous Thorong La Pass at a dizzying height of 5,416m/17,764ft is another highlight of this trek. An early start is important to go through the icy high-altitude trail. But the picturesque mountain vistas are more than compensates the strenuous walk through the grueling trail. We reach Muktinath by sunset which is an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhist. We can stroll around the area which hosts a Vishnu temple and a Monastery nearby. Overnight at Muktinath.

DAY 16
We begin descending down the dramatic Kali Gandaki Gorge through the arid land. We pass by Jharkot and Khingar villages which has typical Tibetan architecture. Following the valley floor most of the way sprawled along the banks of the Kali Gandaki, we reach Jomsom. Overnight in Jomsom.

DAY 17
JOMSOM TO POKHARA FLIGHT (827M/2,700FT): 30 MIN FLIGHT
After breakfast we fly to Pokhara. The scenic flight takes us through the gorge of the two huge mountains, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. On arrival at Pokhara airport, we will be transferred to lakeside hotel. We get some rest and explore the beauty of Pokhara Valley in the evening. While we leisurely walk along the bank of Fewa Lake, the second biggest lake of Nepal while admiring the mountain view of Machhapuchhare. We can also go for a boat-ride in Fewa Lake or take a short hike to the World Peace Pagoda. We can end the day with a leisurely stroll around the mesmerizing lakeside area.Overnight in Pokhara.

DAY 18
POKHARA TO KATHMANDU (1,300M/4,428FT): 5-6 HOURS DRIVE
Today, after breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, we will be transferred to our hotel. There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize our photos. We can spend the evening leisurely or perhaps catch up on some last minute shopping. Either way, we celebrate the successful completion of our journey with a farewell dinner in the evening. Overnight at Kathmandu.

DAY 19
FINAL DEPARTURE FROM NEPAL
Our Nar Phu Valley Trek comes to an end today! A Mount Adventure Holidays representative will escort us to the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
